Once again, it was women who put their life on the line to protest. To oppose to the restart of Ôi Nuclear Power Plant today they did die-in protestation. The promotor of this protest was "Women in Fukushima don't need Nuclear Power Plant".
More than 50 women came from Fukushima Prefecture and from the capital region. The women from Fukushima were wearing white shrouds. It showed they are fiercely determined to shut down the restart of the nuclear power plant. In front of PM's Office, if we lay down on the side walk in a large group, there's a risk for several people to be over taken by the police in a short time. Peace Keepers also arrived and batten down the hatches.
"If Ôi Nuclear Power Plant restarts, the other nuclear plants in Japan will be also restarted one after another. We shut it down by putting our lives on the line". Chieko Shiina is the co-leader of "Women in Fukushima don't need Nuclear Power Plant: "If another nuclear plant accident happens, there will be no future for our children and grandchildren. Only women in Fukushima have a sense of danger. A woman living in Mitaka-City in Tokyo couldn't hide her strong anger. "We have to let actions speak rather than demonstrations or meetings to shut down a nuclear power plant. I'm not afraid if police comes. My daughter will give birth to her baby in September. If the nuclear power plant restarts and an accident happens, i will not be able to apologize to my grandchild". It's the same for a woman living in Edogawa District: "I can't forgive the restart because I have grandchildren. I don't mind to be caught by the police". In front of PM's Office, Tokiko Kato, a singer, came to give her help. There were a lot of people, men who followed the die-in, media filled on the side walk and police officers in their uniform were busy to direct the traffic.

"Dead Bodies" in a row. What PM Noda will think if he watchs them. Photo by Ryusaku Tanaka
Passed 3pm, the die-in protest started. The air was filled with silence. The noise of cars engines resounded awfully. I have to say that a situation in which women who will give birth to a child have to pretend to be dead bodies is completely abnormal. The protest die-in continued for 10 minutes. Fortunately there were no police intervention. A woman who participated from Kôriyama City has a daughter in her third year of high school: "Hibakusha in Hiroshima and Nagasaki have died like this… This think has been running around in my head again and again. We can't make the same mistake again. We will never give up, we'll do our best."
PM Noda's government who made women his ennemies will reach the dead end sooner or later. There's a possibility of "The Disbandment in desperation" but there's no possibility of "Restarting nuclear power plant in desperation."

On June 7, 2012, about 70 women including 10 women from Fukushima did a "die-in" in front of the Prime Minister's Official Residence to protest against the restart of Ooi Nuclear Power Plant. Before the die-in, 10 Fukushima women visited the Cabinet Office and met with officials to submit a letter of requests addressed to Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.

This video clip shows the words from the Fukushima women and part of the die-in.

On the very next day, June 8, 2012, Prime Minister Noda held a press conference and declared he would restart Ooi Nuclear Power Plant.
